40+ Reassuring Bible Verses About God’s Love
Published November 8, 2022
Whenever we’re besieged with problems, most of us tend to think that God hates us. I mean, why else would He allow us to go through all that pain if He loves us, right?
But have you ever asked yourself why He willingly sent His only son to die for our sins? That’s such a big sacrifice to make for someone you hate, right? If He doesn’t love us, why does He always choose to forgive us and take us back no matter how many times we’ve sinned against Him?
One of the things I’ve realized while looking for Bible verses about God’s love is that it’s not the kind of love like how we humans understand love. Divine love is unfathomable and infinite. It’s more than just deep affection or profound devotion. Nor can it be measured in terms of the intensity of one’s emotion.
In the Bible, the word “khesed” is often used when referring to God’s love. It’s a Hebrew word that doesn’t have any equivalent translation in English. Basically, it’s a type of loyal commitment to be generous and kind to someone for a long time.
That is why God’s love is more than just affection. It’s rooted in commitment. Affection goes away after a time. But commitment can last a lifetime and even beyond that. Because of this, God’s love is often described as “steadfast” or “loyal” in the scriptures.
By sending His only son to save us from sin, he showed His “khesed” or commitment of generosity to humanity. He doesn’t really need to do that and it must have hurt Him to do so. Just imagine letting your only child die for the sins of ungrateful and selfish people. But He did it anyway because He knows that it’s our only chance at salvation. That’s how much He loves us.
So if you ever think that God hates you, here are some Bible verses to remind you of God’s divine love:
