50+ Reassuring Bible Verses About the Fruits of the Womb
Published February 11, 2022
Many people dream of having children, or as the Bible calls them “the fruits of the womb”. Unfortunately, for some, the wait can be longer than others.
According to the World Health Organization, about 48 million couples and 186 million individuals around the world struggle with infertility. That’s more than 2% of the world’s population. Even in ancient times, many people have had difficulty conceiving.
As you probably know, many Bible characters also suffered from infertility. Abraham, the father of all nations, and his wife Sarah didn’t conceive until they were in their twilight years. So did Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist and Rebecca, who gave birth to Jacob and Esau after being unable to conceive for many years.
But one thing that unites them all is an unwavering faith in God. Abraham, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Rebecca along with many other biblical characters continued to trust in God despite what they are going through. They didn’t give up hope that someday God will end their suffering too. And they weren’t disappointed.
As Proverbs 16:4 pointed out, the Lord made everything for His purpose. The wait might wear you out but as had been proven time and again, those who hope in Him are rewarded (2 Chronicles 15:7). So instead of being anxious, use this waiting season to pray and give thanks to Him (Philippians 4:6).
