Searching for Jesus in Every Book of the Bible

When someone asks you to find a bible verse that talks about Jesus, you’d probably turn to the New Testament without hesitation. And yes, you would be right. Jesus’ birth, ministry, and resurrection are all recorded in the New Testament.
But if you really think about it, Jesus Christ can be found in every book in the Bible. Yes, you read it right. From Genesis to Revelation, the entire bible is about Jesus. Though not all of them specifically mention Jesus’ name, the scriptures point to Him one way or another.
Here’s where you can find Jesus in every book of the bible:
Old Testament
Genesis: Jesus is the seed of the woman (Gen. 3:15) and the promised redeemer descended from the line of Judah (Genesis 22:17-18).
Exodus: He is the Passover lamb who sacrificed his life so that we may be spared when the day of judgment comes. (Exodus 12:26-27)
Leviticus: He is the High Priest commanded to make atonement for the sins of his flock. (Leviticus 16:16)
Numbers: Like the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire (Numbers 14:14), Jesus is the beacon of light that leads us to the right path. He is also typified as the bronze serpent who saved all those who were bitten by a poisonous snake (Numbers 21:8-9).
Deuteronomy: Like Moses, Jesus is the prophet whom God has promised. The prophet who will speak in his name and will call to account all those who did not listen to his words. (Deuteronomy 18:15-19)
Joshua: He is the commander of the Lord’s army and the captain of our salvation who leads us to the promised land. (Joshua 5:13-15)
Judges: He is our judge and lawgiver whom God promised to raise up for them. But he will not come to punish but to save the oppressed. (Judges 2:18)
Ruth: He is our kinsman redeemer. In historical books, a kinsman redeemer is someone obliged to redeem a relative in serious difficulty. (Ruth 4:1-4)
1 & 2 Samuel: He is the King, Messiah, and the Rock. Jesus is the king God has promised to Samuel in 2 Samuel 7:12-16. He is the Messiah who will come from the line of David and the rock of Israel (2 Sam 23:2-3).
1 & 2 Kings: He is our reigning king – the fulfillment of God’s promise that a descendant of David will reign over his people for all eternity. (1 Kings 2:1-4)
1 & 2 Chronicles: He is the glorious temple (2 Chronicles 7:11-16) – the mediator between God and his people.
Ezra: Typified in the person of Ezra, Jesus is the scribe who carried out God’s commands faithfully. (Ezra 7:27-28)
Nehemiah: He is the rebuilder of the walls and restorer who restored our salvation through his death and resurrection (Nehemiah 2:17-18).
Tobit: Jesus is the son of God who obediently surrendered himself to God’s plan even at the cost of his own life. (Tobit 1:6-8)
Judith: He is God’s deliverance that he has promised his people. (Judith 8:17-27)
Esther: Typified in the person of Mordecai, Jesus is our advocate and intercessor. (Esther 4:11-14)
Job: He is the ever-living redeemer that God sent to deliver us from our sufferings. (Job 19:1-29)
Psalms: He is God’s shepherd described in the Psalm of David. (Psalm 23)
Proverbs: He is the wisdom of God. (Proverbs 8:22-31)
Ecclesiastes: He is the hope of resurrection. (Ecclesiastes 3:19-21)
Song of Solomon: He is our loving bridegroom. (Song of Solomon 4)
Isaiah: He is the suffering servant. (Isaiah 42:1–4, Isaiah 49:1–6, Isaiah 52:13–53:12) He is also the Messiah who is both God and man (Isaiah 9:6) and who would be born of a Virgin (Isaiah 7:14). The very same Messiah who will be whipped and beaten ( Isaiah 50:4–7) and who will be resurrected and will live forever (Isaiah 53:10).
Jeremiah: He is the righteous wronged. (Jeremiah 12:5-13)
Lamentations and Baruch: He is the weeping Messiah. (Lamentations 3, Baruch 2:14-23)
Ezekiel: He is the son of man (Ezekiel 2:1) who would be a descendant of David (Ezekiel 34:23-24).
Daniel: He is the fourth man in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:8-25) and the Rock that will strike the statue of idols and false Gods (Daniel 2:34). He is also the “Anointed One” who will be put to death (Daniel 9:25) but who will reign over God’s everlasting kingdom (Daniel 7:13-14).
Hosea: He is the faithful husband. (Hosea 3)
Joel: He is the outpourer of the holy spirit (Joel 2:28-32) and the Messiah who will bring salvation to all people (Joel 2:32).
Amos: He is the burden-bearer. (Amos 8:9)
Obadiah: He is our judge and mighty savior. (Obadiah 1:21)
Jonah: He is the greatest missionary. (Jonah 3)
Micah: He is the everlasting prophet born in Bethlehem. (Micah 5:1-2)
Nahum: He is our stronghold. (Nahum 1:3)
Habakkuk: He is the watchman and the greatest evangelist. (Habakkuk 3:3)
Zephaniah: He is the warrior who saves us. (Zephaniah 3:17)
Haggai: He is the restorer and the cleansing fountain. (Haggai 2:6-9)
Zechariah: He is the son pierced for our sake. (Zechariah 12:10)
Malachi: He is the son of righteousness. (Malachi 3:1)
New Testament
Matthew: He is the son of David. (Matthew 1:1), the King of the Jews (Matthew 2:2), the Son of God (Matthew 2:15), and the Bridegroom (Matthew 9:15).
Mark: He is the servant, the miracle worker (Mark 10:45), and the king of Israel (Mark 15:32).
Luke: He is the son of God born in the manger (Luke 2:1-20), the Consolation of Israel (Luke 2:25), and the Horn of Salvation (Luke 1:69).
John: He is the Messiah in the flesh (John 14:6), the bread of life (John 6:35), the Lamb of God (John 1:29), the Good Shepherd (John 10:11), and The True Vine (John 15:1).
Acts: He is the ascended savior of the world (Acts 1:9-14) and the Judge of the Living and the Dead (Acts 10:42).
Romans: He is the justifier (Romans 11:26) and the Lord of both the living and the dead (Romans 14:9).
1&2 Corinthians: He is the first fruit, and God’s power and love personified. (1 Corinthians 15:23)
Galatians: He is our liberty. (Galatians 5:1)
Ephesians: The Lord Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the church. (Ephesians 2:20)
Philippians: He is our joy and the name above all names. (Philippians 2:9)
Colossians: He is the fullness of God’s promise. (Colossians 1:18)
1&2 Thessalonians: He is the coming king. (2 Thessalonians 3:16)
1&2 Timothy: Jesus is the mediator and the king of ages. (1 Timothy 1:17, 1 Timothy 2:5)
Titus: He is the foundation of truth and the blessed hope. (Titus 2:13)
Philemon: He is our friend and benefactor. (Philemon 1-21)
Hebrews: He is our perfection, the blood that washes away our sins. (Hebrews 10:4)
James: He is the power behind our faith. (James 2:14-26)
1 & 2 Peter: He is the living stone and the chief shepherd. (1 Peter 2:4, 1 Peter 5:4)
1, 2 & 3 John: He is the source of all truth and eternal life. (1 John1:2)
Jude: He is our savior. (Jude 25)
Revelation: He is the king of kings, lords of lords, and the alpha and the omega. (Revelations 19:16, 1:17, 22:13)
