30+ Scriptures About a Virtuous Woman
Published May 26, 2023
As a Christian, the first thing that comes to mind when we hear “virtuous woman” are the words in Proverbs 31. This particular chapter enumerates the traits that a Godly woman should have.
But if you read the entire chapter, you’ll realize that it can be a lot to live up to. I mean, it’s hard enough being a woman. Having 21 verses telling you how exactly you should conduct yourself seems to be pushing it. Besides, these were written thousands of years ago. Surely, this doesn’t apply to us modern women anymore?
Well, yes, it’s ancient. But that doesn’t we can’t learn a thing or two from it. In fact, if you really reflect on the Scriptures about virtuous women, you’ll realize that many of them still apply to our generation.
It’s true that a virtuous woman, by Biblical standards, is someone who is obedient and subservient. But the Bible also says that a godly woman is strong, wise, provides for her family, and helps the poor. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a modern woman to me.
So if you’re trying to learn more about how to become a woman of God, we’ve rounded up some of the most popular scriptures about a virtuous woman.

She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. – Proverbs 31:11-22
